Saint of the Day: Saint Francis of Assisi
Today is the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, one of the greatest saints, not only did the pope choose him for his name, but he has been the inspiration for many other saints.
Pope John Paul II said, "St.Francis offers Christians an example of genuine and deep respect for the integrity of creation."
Saint Francis was the son of a wealthy merchant, when after he joined the Crusades, heard a voice from God saying to follow Him. So he went back to Assisi, and devoted himself to God, while at a Church in ruins heard God's voice saying, "Francis, Francis, go and repair My house which, as you can see, is falling into ruins."
Ever since than he dedicated his life to the poor, he sold all that he had, and became and "Instrument of Peace"
And now the Prayer to Saint Francis,
The Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.
Ta, Ta for now!
