The Gift of Advent Calendar: Day 14!

The saint who teaches about humility, poverty, and obedience without ever speaking a word is St. Joseph. St. Joseph, the foster-father of Jesus, was a humble carpenter who followed God's plan for his life without hesitation. His mission in life was to take care of Holy Mother Mary and Jesus. His example and actions are role models for fathers, grandfathers, and men throughout the world. Recently, my father, Brian Kiczek, wrote a book on the miracles and life of St. Joseph, entitled Go to St. Joseph: Do whatever he tells you. The book describes the life of St. Joseph's best friend,  Saint Andre Bessette. The Go to St. Joseph book is available at: http://www.mycatholicfamilymagazine.com/go-to-st-joseph-book.html and the perfect gift for any devotee of St. Joseph or for those who want to learn more about this powerful saint.

Go, then to Joseph, and do all that he shall say to you;
Go to Joseph, and obey him as Jesus and Mary obeyed him;
Go to Joseph, and speak to him as they spoke to him;
Go to Joseph, and consult him as they consulted him;
Go to Joseph, and honor him as they honored him;
Go to Joseph, and be grateful to him as they were grateful to him;
Go to Joseph, and love him, as they love him still.

- St. Alphonsus Liguori

Day 14: "Joseph, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for the child who is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit." ~ Matthew 1:20

The Fourteenth Day of Advent

God of us all,

Thank you for the gift of Mary in my life.

I rely on her to intercede for me with her son,
and to guide me, especially in my family.

Help me to learn the grace of humility,
and give me the courage to say "yes" to you
without always knowing where it will lead.

Release me from the fears that grip me,
the pride and stubbornness
that keep me from you and others.

Let me turn to Mary, so human,
for an example of how I might live my own life
more freely, more loving and more aware of you.

Amen.

Saint Joseph was a just man, a tireless worker, the upright guardian of those entrusted to his care. May he always guard, protect and enlighten families. - Pope John Paul II
